Martyna Szymczak

Martyna Szymczak holds a master's degree in opera and symphonic conducting from Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (2018) and has worked for five years as an assistant conductor at the Polish National Opera. Furthermore, Szymczak has participated in numerous masterclasses, including the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme/Jette Parker Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House.

In 2022, Szymczak won the Orchestra's Special Prize at the Witold Lutosławski Competition for Young Conductors, and in 2021, she was nominated for a Fryderyk, Poland's most prestigious phonographic award, for the album "De Invitatione Mortis" featuring music by Andrzej Karałow.

At the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, Martyna Szymczak has served as an assistant conductor for several opera and ballet productions, including Britten's Peter Grimes, Verdi's Aida and La Forza del Destino, Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov, Orff's Carmina Burana and Beethoven's Fidelio.

In 2022, she worked as an assistant conductor for the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra (UFO), the Metropolitan Opera, and the Polish National Opera during UFO's European-American tour. There, she assisted Keri-Lynn Wilson in a repertoire including Silvestrov, Brahms, Dvorak, Chopin, Verdi, and Beethoven.

Since 2018, Szymczak has been a guest conductor/assistant conductor for several orchestras in Poland. She conducted a diploma concert with works by von Weber, Tchaikovsky, and Dvořák with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. From 2019 to 2020, she was the resident conductor for the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in Kielce, conducting concerts featuring Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Sibelius, and Pergolesi, among others.

Szymczak has received numerous awards and scholarships, including recognition and a scholarship from Chopin University of Music for Best Student.
