Fairy tales, sing alongs and the magic of dance

The 2024/2025 season includes performing arts experiences and participation for all ages. From Dance with Baby to a new dance piece for young people in their teens and the performance Ego made by, with and for young adults.

If you are young – or know someone who is – and want to know more about our activities, follow our Young Ambassadors on Instagram, @ungagoteborgsoperan.

The Gothenburg Opera is a magical world for all ages, which we especially enjoy sharing with children and young people. Here you can read about everything young people and kids can experience with us this season.

Already during Gothenburg's Culture Festival in August, you can take part in a Sing along for the family on the Stora scenen. During the school holidays, you can go to the performances Hillary the Witch Goes to the Opera (premiere during the autumn holidays) and Ego (Easter holiday), visit the Open House (February holidays) and everything else that happens during holidays at the Opera.

This year's Christmas adventure is the new family show The Secret of the Factory, which has our Youth Choir performing as members of a Lucia procession, performing together with opera soloists and the Göteborg Opera Orchestra. It will be a wonderful Christmas event for the whole family, with new discoveries and music that ranges from baroque to classic Lucia songs and Christmas carols.

We will present two different Relaxed Performance shows this season, one in autumn and one in spring.

During May, there will be three fantastic performances for children and young people. First up, during the Göteobrg Opera Dance Festival, is a new dance work for teenagers by choreographer Mari Carrasco. The family concert The World of Fairy Tales takes place on the Small Stage, while the Year 2 Choir, with hundreds of 8 and 9 year-olds, steps up on the Main Stage.

Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will run throughout the season. An imaginative and fantastic musical which is mainly aimed at an adult audience but is also suitable for families with slightly older children (recommended from 7 years).

We would also like to advise you that there is even more to discover on Skapa's pages - for example, Dance with Baby, "give it a try" opportunities, the Opera in Schools and other activities.

We hope to see you here!
