Terms and Conditions of Purchase

To purchase tickets, you must provide your name, postal address, email address and phone number. You can pay online with a debit card, Swish or gift voucher. The details you provide will be used to complete your purchase. The same details are used to contact you, for example if there is a problem with your purchase or if a performance is cancelled.

For information on how The Göteborg Opera processes your personal data, please refer below and to the information on this page about personal data processing.

Tickets

Your barcoded ticket is your key to a certain opera performance or event. The ticket barcode will only be scanned and accepted once. Consequently, your barcoded ticket cannot be copied or used more than once.

If you are unable to attend a performance or event, you have the right to transfer your ticket to another person. Please note that some price categories are subject to certain conditions which require you to present an ID, student card or stage pass.

Tickets cannot be used or resold for commercial purposes. This includes:

  • Professional sales transactions or any other form of sales where the seller claims that the tickets are sold by The Göteborg Opera.
  • It is not permitted to conceal or change the information on the tickets, e.g. the price of the ticket.

By using and selling tickets for commercial purposes, the tickets become null and void. The Göteborg Opera shall be entitled to compensation for any and all costs associated with the cancellation of tickets as a result of unauthorised ticketing.

Exchange and cancellation

Ticket exchange fee

You can change your ticket(s) to a different date of the same production up to 24 hours before the performance, subject to availability. For changing tickets, The Göteborg Opera charges an exchange fee of SEK 40 per ticket. This fee is charged when you change the ticket.

Cancellation

With the Göteborg Opera’s cancellation protection, you can cancel your ticket up to 4 weeks prior to the performance date. You can buy cancellation protection along your ticket. The cancellation protection only applies for the performance you purchased it for. The price of the ticket will be refunded. In the event of illness or injury, you can cancel up until the day before the performance, in which case you will receive a gift voucher equivalent to the price of the ticket. Cancellation due to illness or injury must be certified with a medical certificate or a police report. This must be submitted within one week of the cancellation.

For terms and conditions applicable to Cancellation Protection, please visit this page.

Cancellation of a performance

If a show or event cannot be performed, it will be cancelled. In such cases, we will contact you via email or sms. You can choose to either get a refund of the ticket price or exchange your ticket for a different date of the same production. The refund/exchange must take place within three weeks from the date the performance or event is cancelled. Administration fees are non-refundable.

A change of repertoire, location/venue or a partially performed production or event does not constitute a cancelled performance and is usually non-refundable.

Force Majeure

The Göteborg Opera’s obligations under the Terms and Conditions of Purchase, including responsibility for implementing the event and the ticket buyer’s right to a refund, will cease to apply if the event is affected by a force majeure situation before or during the event. Force majeure refers to circumstances beyond The Göteborg Opera’s reasonable control, including but not limited to war, riots, terrorism, major outbreaks, fire, floods, strikes, weather, national security orders or instructions from national or local authorities.

Ticket bookings

When booking ticket(s), you must confirm the name of the production, number of tickets, price and date before the expiry date. Once the expiry date of your booking has passed, your tickets will go back on sale. Once you have confirmed and/or paid for your booking, the ticket(s) will be sent in PDF format to the email address specified in your booking.
