Swedish soprano Maria Bengtsson is among the great sopranos of today. She regularly appears, among others, at the Opéra de Paris, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Staatsoper Hamburg, Oper Frankfurt, La Scala in Milan, the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Vienna State Opera, the Salzburg and Aix en Provence Festivals, as well as the Opéra National de Bordeaux, the Cologne Opera, the Opéra National de Lyon, the Teatro la Fenice, the Antwerp Opera and the Theater an der Wien. Highlights of recent seasons include Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier) at Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, Elijah with Kirill Petrenko conducting in Munich, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) at Covent Garden London, Capriccio-Gräfin at Oper Frankfurt, Contessa (Nozze di Figaro), Marschallin (Rosenkavalier) and Gräfin (Capriccio) at Vienna State Opera, Ellen Orford and Contessa at the Opéra de Paris, Blanche in Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmelites at Frankfurt Opera, Rusalka and Clara in the world premiere of Christian Jost's Egmont at Theater an der Wien, Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte) at Hamburg State Opera and at Teatro San Carlo Naples under the baton of Riccardo Muti, Pamina (Magic Flute) at the Berlin State Opera, the soprano parts in Calixto Bieito's staged version of Verdi's Messa da Requiem at Hamburg State Opera as well as in his scenic interpretation of Mendelssohn's Elijah at Theater an der Wien, and the title role in the world premiere of Detlev Glanert's opera Oceane at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
