The Göteborg Opera has the resources needed to create contemporary performing arts of the highest quality. The atmosphere, expertise, and diverse experience we have here continue to attract artists, creative teams, and international guests from all over the world.
In autumn 2022, the Göteborg Opera was named the world's most sustainable opera house by the jury for the prestigious International Opera Awards, sometimes referred to as the Oscars of the operatic world. It was the same jury that nominated us as ‘Opera Company of the Year’ three years ago, when we were one of just six opera houses in the world to be nominated. The award provides a great acknowledgement of our dedicated sustainability efforts, which have been a central part of work for decades.
Whether you’ve been following us for a long time and enjoy enriching your experience with panel discussions, introductions, or post-performance talks; whether you’re a new parent visiting Dance with Baby; whether you’re a young person participating in Skapa projects or sing in our children’s and youth choirs, or if you’ve recently discovered the joys of the performing arts, we’re here for you. We want to provide you with experiences that enrich your everyday life – experiences that spark conversations and create lasting memories. If you want to meet, socialise and experience wonderful evenings – this is the place for you.
This is your opera house.
