Miss Saigon is a gripping musical with powerful music. The story transports us to Saigon during the Vietnam War in the 1970s. Here we witness the forbidden love between Chris, a U.S. Marine, and an orphaned Vietnamese woman called Kim, who has been forced to work in the bar of the brothel Dreamland. Their fates intertwine in a way that challenges the boundaries of love and confronts the brutal reality of international conflict. The chaos of war results in heartbreaking drama and an ever-relevant story.
In the leading role as Kim, we see Swedish musical star Feline Andersson, who stunned both audiences and critics with her incredible performance as Elphaba in the musical Wicked here at the Göteborg Opera in 2023/2024.
Miss Saigon is by the legendary creators behind Les Misérables: Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, and is a modern retelling of Puccini’s classic opera Madama Butterfly.
Directed by Guy Unsworth, this production of Miss Saigon premiered at Folketeateret in Oslo in 2023, produced by Scenekvelder. It was nominated for the Norwegian theatre award Hedda in the category ‘Best Musical Theatre Performance’.
