Open rehearsals
A couple of weeks before GöteborgsOperans Danskompani has a new world premiere on the Main Stage, we invite you to an open rehearsal on the Main Stage. Experience the dancers rehearsing creations still in the process of coming together, working with the choreographers, and afterwards hear them talk about the process and their thoughts behind each piece. Information about upcoming open rehearsals are on each performance page.
Free admission, but seats must be booked in advance.
Introductions
Verbal introductions
One hour before each dance performance on the Main Stage, you can attend an introduction to the show. Introductions take about 20 minutes and are held on the Small Stage. They are popular, so don't be late, because they fill up quickly! They are free to attend as long as you have a ticket to the evening’s performance.
Physical introductions
Learn about the performance you will see and get deeper insight into the language of dance!
We also offer physical introductions on certain occasions – keep an eye out on the relevant performance page for dates and times. Here you’ll get insight into the performance by observing and trying some movement together with other participants at the introduction, led by dancers from GöteborgsOperans Danskompani themselves.
A physical introduction helps make the choreography come alive for you by demonstrating examples of gestures and movement patterns, which you will later recognise as you watch the performance. A physical introduction is a journey, where you’ll experience different choreographic methods, movement principles, and artistic forms – and will give you a more personal, physical, embodied connection with the performance.
Length 45 minutes
Price: Free admission, booking required, limited places.
Clothing: Whatever you’ve worn to watch the performance – preferably comfortable clothes (Note that will be taking off your shoes to participate.)

The format is created and practiced by the MA Contemporary Dance Education (MA CoDE) at Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main. With the aim to remain in close collaboration and to foster further development of the format it is handed over by Prof. Ingo Diehl and Anja Bornsek for facilitation purposes to GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
