Having grown up in Reunion Island, Marie Bourgeois is a curious mover before being a dancer. In an environment where people live outside, she practiced activities that connected her to the forces of nature such as surfing and hiking.
She then learned gymnastics, swimming, golf ... and dance at the Regional Conservatory, which gradually became her second home.
In 2011, she moved to Lyon where she began a bachelor's degree in life sciences - and at the same time continued to dance wherever she could in diversified disciplines.
Two years later, she was accepted to the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds where she spent three years. There she met Hagit Yakira, Joss Arnott and Kevin Turner, who co-directs Company Chameleon, and with whom she was an apprentice after graduation. She continued to train in new practices such as capoeira, climbing and singing.
In January 2017 she met Yoann Bourgeois and returned to France to join his company, first as a cover for a role in Celui Qui Tombe.
Since then, Marie and Yoann have shared many creative adventures together. She has performed in several of his productions (Requiem, Minuit, The unreachable suspension point). She also assists Yoann, and sometimes co-writes with him, in his creations, or commissioned works for companies like GöteborgsOperan Danskompani and NDT) or in his collaborations with artists like Coldplay and Pomme.
