Stine Sjøgren holds a degree in Fashion Design from the French school Esmod, and a Master of Fine Arts from Northwestern University in Chicago, in costume and stage design. She has worked as a designer for a number of theatres, doing costumes on a variety of productions, spanning from dramatic theater, musicals ballett, modern dance, operas and dance theater most recently; Tell Your Mom You Love Your Skin for Nederlands Dans Theater.
Stine has since 2009 worked with Alan Lucien Øyen, creating costumes for a range of opera stages around Europe; If we shadows have offended and Kodak at the Göteborg Opera, Bon Voyage Bob for Tanztheater Pina Bausch Wuppertal and Rusalka for Opera Ballet Vlaandern.
From the start of her collaboration with Alan Lucien Øyen she joinedwinter guests as a costume designer, taking part in creating award winning productions that melds spoken words, dance and music. Many of the productions have toured all over the world, like Story Story Die that will continue to tour North America.
Through her work with winter guests she started a collaborating with choreographer Daniel Proietto, that explores the deconstruction/reconstruction of classical ballet, doing costumes for Cygne and We two Boys, La Muerte del Angel, Woman an Blanc for the Staats Opera in Vienna.
She recently started creating with Fernado Melo, exploring how to make costumes not affected by gravity as he plays with magical perspectives through video and different floor work.
Working with a range of international choreographers such as Alexander Ekman, Douglas Lee, Kaloyan Boyadjiev, Andreas Heise, Ina Christel Johannesen and Jo Strømgren, she has also designed costumes for several smaller and lager dance pieces at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet, ranging from duets like Scheherezade to large stage productions like Petrusjka.
Stine has spent several summers teaching her workshop Designing For Dance at Banff Center For Arts and Creativity. Working with dancers in creating costumes for movement, ranging from circus to classic ballett.
