The Göteborg Opera’s vision is to be one of the leading opera houses in Northern Europe – a modern and innovative opera house that distinguishes itself with professionalism and commitment to the arts. We have a broad repertoire of opera, dance and musical and are an important player in the development of the region. GöteborgsOperan AB is a publicly-owned company that employs around 500 people full time. In total around 300 performances are staged every year on the Main Stage, the Small Stage and throughout the region, for an audience of around 250 000 people. We have a turnover of around SEK 380 million of which around 30% is from our own resources. The Göteborg Opera is a diverse workplace with roughly the same number of male and female employees. The orchestra itself has 86 members.


Round 1

Audition round 1 will involve you uploading Youtube videos, then filling out the form at the link below which will include these links. Application deadline 15 August 2021.

The video quality must be at least 720p, in an mpeg-4 format. Each video is to be recorded in full body mode in one take, without cuts or adjustments.

Rounds 2 and 3

The second and third round of the audition will take place at GöteborgsOperan in Gothenburg, Sweden. Date TBA, according to Covid-19 restrictions.

Compulsory pieces 2nd round:

One of the following violin concertos: Sibelius / Beethoven / Tchaikovsky / Brahms

Orchestra excerpts (which you can download here) and an ensemble audition
