The Main Stage will be filled with hundreds of primary school students aged 8–9 for an exciting concert centring around the power of music.

Throughout the 2021/2022 school year there will be plenty of singing practice in the classrooms of Hisingen year 2 primary school students. Then in early June, they’ll finally perform together on the Main Stage at The Göteborg Opera.

The Year 2 Choir brings together children from all over Hisingen to take part in a big concert and experience the power of music. Be prepared for a fabulous party atmosphere in the auditorium as the children put their voices together for a programme of singing, music, dancing and sheer joy. If you recognise any of the songs, feel free to sing along!

The concert will be performed for schoolchildren during the day on 3 June, with 300 children participating in each performance and teachers providing the instrumental accompaniment. In the evening there will be a performance for both young and old (relatives and friends are welcome to join), where all the children who can will perform.

The Year 2 Choir is a collaboration between Kulturskolan and The Göteborg Opera. This will be the third time Kulturskolan Hisingen is organising the Year 2 Choir and the first time the event will be carried out in collaboration with The Göteborg Opera. The inspiration for this event began in Malmö, where a similar event has been implemented successfully for several years, involving all year 2 primary school students in Malmö. The choreography and singing will be prepared and practised at the children's schools under the guidance of teachers from Kulturskolan.
