Alan Lucien Øyen


Alan Lucien Øyen is one of Norway's most popular artists, and his work as a director, choreographer and dramatist has met with great acclaim both in Norway and abroad.

Øyen studied dance at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Following his graduation in 2001, he joined Carte Blanche, The Norwegian National Company for Contemporary Dance. Later, he formed part of Amanda Miller's Pretty Ugly Dance Company in Cologne, Germany.

Øyen established his own company in 2006 – Winter Guests – which has already toured in 16 countries on three continents.

Since 2009, Øyen has worked mainly as a director and dramatist. He has authored six plays, and last year he received the Norwegian Hedda Award for his five and a half hours-drama Coelacanth.

From January 2013, Alan Lucien Øyen is attached to the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet as an artist in residence and in-house choreographer.
