Branislav Jovančević

Branislav Jovančević (Belgrade) is a composer, music producer, and cultural manager whose practice spans film, theater, and experimental music. His compositional approach integrates electronic and acoustic media, drawing on traditional Balkan motifs while employing contemporary techniques of sound design to create immersive and evocative sonic landscapes. He has written music for numerous films, including Toprak ve Kanatlar (2024), Invoked (2022), Without (2022), Everything Ahead (2021), and The Elegy of Laurel (2021). His score for the feature film Suddenly (2022) received the Best Music Award at the Türkisches Filmfestival Frankfurt/M. International. In theater, his credits include Stvaranje čoveka (Atelje 212, Belgrade, 2018) and the composition and sound design for Die Neue Internationale (Gessnerallee, Zürich, 2022). Under the alias Kӣr, Jovančević explores the intersections of industrial textures, ritualistic rhythms, and Balkan musical heritage, merging folk memory with contemporary electronic practices. Active since 2016, the project has released works on labels such as Rocket Recordings, Crème Organization, Yerevan Tapes, Disk, and Kashual Plastik.

Alongside his artistic work, Jovančević has been active in international cultural programming for more than a decade. He co-founded the Polja Festival, now part of the European platform SHAPE+, and the plusplusplus Festival, and is curated programs for leading Belgrade venues including Drugstore, Dim, and Karmakoma. His practice is rooted in collaboration across disciplines, promoting experimental music as a space of exchange, reflection, and new cultural connections.
