Gai Behar

Choreographer

Between 1999–2005 Gai Behar produced live music and underground artistic events, alongside techno raves. This underground line included a wandering sound system and raves in deserted buildings, basements and parking lots, in which live performances and installations by plastic artists took part. In addition, Gai maintained more established party-lines (Syntechtich, Dark Disco, Night Rox and more) in clubs such as Maxim, Shoken 17, TLV and Deep.

Behar initiated and produced the eclectic Salad line at the Fetish, highlighting VJ’s and video art, presenting international DJ’s as Mike Dread, Steve Bicknell, Daze Maxim, DMX Crew and more.

Behar is the curator and producer of the Man Without a Shirt events that took place twice at the Barzilay club in Tel Aviv, including the surrounding parking lots. The first event was co-curated by Uri Katzenstein, the second included works by Sharon Eyal, Talya Landa, Ori Lichtik and the premiere performance of Bnei Ha-Ma by Ohad Fishof and Yishai Adar.

Behar plays, together with Ori Lichtik in Anna Frank 14 – a techno-acoustic line-up based mainly on minimalistic rhythms and melodies, and is also part of Repetè alongside Ori Lichtik and musician/sound artist Alex Yunovich.

As of 2005 Gai has been collaborating with Sharon Eyal, co-creating Bertolina (2006), Makarova Kabisa (2008), Bill and Petrushka (2010), House (2011) and Lost Cause (2012) all created for Batsheva Dance Company. Since 2009 Gai has also co-created works with Sharon Eyal for dance companies around the world, including: Killer Pig (2009) and Corps de Walk (2011) for the Norwegian Carte Blanche; Too Beaucoup for the American Hubbard Street Dance Chicago; Plafona (2012) for Tanzcompagnie Oldenburg.
