Joakim Hallin is a conductor, arranger, and pianist, specializing in musical theatre and musical crossover projects. He has longstanding collaborations with many of Sweden’s leading artists and has been responsible for the music in numerous musicals in Sweden over the past 23 years, including Hair, Cabaret, La Cage aux Folles, Avenue Q, Sugar, and My Fair Lady.
Hallin has served as Music Director at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern, where he oversaw productions such as West Side Story, Chicago, Next to Normal, and A Little Night Music. He has also returned to lead productions of Cabaret, Billy Elliot, Fiddler on the Roof, and The Sound of Music.
At Malmö Opera, Hallin has conducted productions such as Evita, Doctor Zhivago, Billy Elliot, Kinky Boots, Pippin, Fiddler on the Roof, Matilda, Anastasia, and Funny Girl. For the 2024/2025 season, he is the creator and Music Director of Joyride – The Musical.
At the Göteborg Opera, Joakim Hallin was one of the conductors for Wicked, and in the autumn of 2024, he also conducted 12 Songs.
In the 2025/2026 season, Joakim Hallin will conduct the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and make return appearances at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and Malmö Opera, where he has been Principal Guest Conductor since 2023.
