Sara Suneson trained at the Ballet School of the Stora Teatern in Gothenburg, the Royal Swedish Ballet School, and the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London.
For several years, she danced with the Norwegian National Ballet in Oslo, performing works by George Balanchine, Jiří Kylián, Marius Petipa and Glen Tetley. She also danced Swan Lake with English National Ballet at the Royal Albert Hall, and has performed in several productions with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
Her stage credits also include one of the lead roles, Anna II, in The Seven Deadly Sins, the role of Kumudha’s sister in A Flowering Tree, the Golden Child in Der Ring des Nibelungen, as well as appearances in numerous opera productions, including Il barbiere di Siviglia, Orfeo ed Euridice, Giulio Cesare and Macbeth.
Sara Suneson is currently an assistant director at the Göteborg Opera, where she has worked on productions such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Mytomania and Don Giovanni.
She directed the revival of the children’s opera Sandvargen and choreographed the revival of La bohème. She was also responsible for the choreography in the Christmas production Fabrikens hemlighet.
Her choreographic work includes Kristinvariationer at Borås City Theatre, Själens telegraf at Teater Trixter, Arma människor with the performing arts collective Snö, and Vilse with Teater Tofta.
At Gothenburg City Theatre, she has worked as a movement coach for the plays Pain and The Learned Ladies.
