The Shadow Child is an exciting, poetic production that tackles difficult subjects such as fear. It’s a performance to experience together as a family—children and adults alike—and one that will spark conversations long after the final scene.

Two children live together: one is defiant and troublesome, the other obedient and rarely disruptive. One is called the Shadow Child, the other the Light Child. The Shadow Child, who is never allowed to join in, summons all the monsters of the night to scare the Light Child and, in doing so, claims their own place. But can you always believe what you see?

Part of the experience includes a moment of reflection and questions after the performance, together with the cast.

The Shadow Child is based on the Danish author Cecilie Eken’s children’s book Mørkebarnet, a critically acclaimed thriller that was awarded the Danish Ministry of Culture’s Author Prize.
