Sarah Pistorius has been a member of the Gothenburg Opera chorus since 2022 where she has performed as a soloist in Vivaldi’s cantata Cessate, mai cessate and 2nd Ménade in Rameau’s Platee.
Previously she worked in the Landesbühnen Sachsen in Radebeul, Germany. There she sang in the chorus and performed Der Sandmännchen in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel. She made her American professional debut in 2021 with Winter Opera St. Louis, performing the role of Maestra delle novizie in its production of Suor Angelica. Sarah was an Emerging Artist with Opera in the Ozarks, where she received the Mary Prudie Scholarship Prize and performed in the Halifax Opera Festival. Past operatic credits include Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Jo March (Little Women), Mrs. McLean (Susannah), Arnalta (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Sally (A Hand of Bridge), and Emma Jones (Street Scene).
In concert Sarah Pistorius performed the Alto 1 solo in Rued Langgaard's Music of the Spheres with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and RCS Voices, conducted by Thomas Dausgaard. This performance was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. In 2018 Sarah performed the alto solo in Bach's Magnificat with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland orchestra and choir, conducted by Timothy Dean. She has also sung as a soloist in Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Vaughan Williams's Serenade to Music, Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium, and Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia.
Sarah Pistorius completed her master’s degree in vocal performance at the Royal conservatoire of Scotland, and her bachelor’s degree in voice at DePauw University.
