Matilda Paulsson

Mezzo-soprano

Matilda Paulsson studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the University College of Opera in Stockholm.

At the Göteborg Opera, performances include the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Hansel in Hänsel und Gretel and the Third Maid in Elektra. Among her many other roles can be mentioned Octavian in the Knight of the Rose (Der Rosenkavalier) which she sang both at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm and the opera houses in Hanover and Kiel as well as the title role in Carmen at the Finnish National Opera, the Royal Swedish Opera and ‘Opera på Skäret’. Roles at the Royal Swedish Opera include Chérubin in Le nozze di Figaro and Arsamene in Xerxes. Matilda Paulsson has made guest appearances as Fenena in Nabucco at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen and as the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos. At ‘Opera på Skäret’, she has sung Eboli in Don Carlos.

Matilda Paulsson’s career to date has incorporated performances throughout Europe, in the United States and Japan. She has worked with many great conductors such as Sir Charles Mackerras, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding, Arnold Östman and Alan Buribayev. As a soloist, Matilda Paulsson has produced two CDs - Junge Liebe (Carpice), a selection of romantic songs and Der Ton (Sterling) with romantic works by Joseph Marx.
