Successful partnerships

Swedbank is an ambassador for our work with children and adolescents, establishing a sustained improvements by partnering with our team that works with children and adolescents, contributing to help adolescents to find their place within the performing arts and music.

Through sponsorship, Swedbank makes art and culture accessible to more people.

Skapa

Our outreach and educational department, called Skapa (Create) focuses on work with children, teenagers and families using co-creation and participation. Skapa encourages access to all areas we work with at the opera house. We develop pieces and make space for voices that are rarely heard. We also work to reach out to those who may not consider that the opera house is also for them.

Engagement

Thanks to Swedbank’s support, we ar able to create more digital content and reach more young people, both regionally and nationally.

Together with Save the Children, we invite children and young people to familiarise themselves with our work. Thanks to Swedbank, we invite these curious youngsters to discover performing arts at our house.

Collaboration

Skapa collaborates with numerous organizations: institutions, associations and schools. Below we list some examples.

The Universal Performing Arts Network (Nätverket Universell scenkonst)

Both of the Göteborg Opera’s Skapa departments for Opera/Drama and Dance participate in this network within the Region Västra Götaland. The network focuses on increasing knowledge and collaborating on how we create inclusive performing arts by, for, and together with anyone regardless of ability. The network includes the Göteborg Opera, Regionteater Väst, Big Wind, Spinn, Språng, Konstra, Move and Mind, and an accessibility consultant from the Kulturförvaltningen in Västra Götaland.

Save the Children (Rädda Barnen)

The Göteborg Opera constantly works to broaden and deepen its role as a cultural actor in the region. We are an opera house for everyone. However, there are groups that rarely or never get the chance to experience what we do. Our collaboration with Save the Children means that more people gain access to culture and the opportunity to participate in and influence our work. The Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is part of Swedish law, states that all children have the right to culture. The Göteborg Opera and the Skapa department help provide performing arts to the groups that Save the Children reaches. When more voices are heard, performing arts improves. The Save the Children collaboration is a crucial piece of fulfilling our mandate.

The Youth Biennale

We have a long-term collaboration with Göteborg’s Music and Arts School, which began with the former Arts School in Angered, where students and staff from the Göteborg Opera meet to work on artistic projects. Young people get to visit the opera house, and we also meet them where they are. The Göteborg Opera Youth Choir is also part of this collaboration.

A collaboration between adult education and cultural institutions within Region Västra Götaland and the City of Gothenburg. The Fokis network includes several schools in Västra Götaland and major artistic institutions such as the Göteborg Opera, Göteborg Symphony Orchestra, Angered Theatre, Folkteatern, Röda Sten, Kulturförvaltningen Västra Götaland, and others. The goal is to allow as many adult students as possible to visit the Göteborg Opera and to deepen collaborations with interested schools.

Kulturskolan

Vokalensemblen Arctic Light i Piteå
2019–2022
