Mozart’s Requiem—a work both portentous and reassuring—is the perfect accompaniment to this weekend of reflection and gratitude. A weekend for celebrating life and those who have passed on, and for reminding us all of our ultimate destination.

The Requiem is an iconic work of classical music, encompassing tender, trembling melancholy, jubilation, and calm reassurance. Both transcendent and all-too human, it features everything from angelic choirs to the trumpets of the Last Judgment.

This majestic mass became Mozart’s own farewell to life, as he composed the Requiem during his final days. By the time of his death, two-thirds of the work was complete. It was finished by one of his pupils, Franz Xaver Süssmayr.

Conductor Tobias Ringborg will lead soloists Sofie Asplund, Ann-Kristin Jones, Tobias Westman and Erik Rosenius, as well as the Göteborg Opera Choir and Orchestra throughout this magnificent work.

The concert will feature other pieces in addition to Mozart's Requiem. The exact content will be announced shortly.
