Annalena Persson trained at the Stockholm Academy of Opera and has been affiliated with the Gothenburg Opera since 2005. In 2003, she won the fourth international competition for Wagner singers in Bayreuth as well as the audience's special prize for Best Singer.
At the Göteborg Opera, Annalena Persson has performed a variety of roles, such as Sieglinde in Wagner's Die Walküre - a role for which she received the Tidskriften Opera award, Madama Butterfly, Kundry in Parsifal, Tatjana in Eugene Onegin, the title role in Elektra, Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos, Elisabeth in Don Carlos, Salome, The Strange Princess in Rusalka and Isolde in Tristan und Isolde. She has also sung Emilia Marty in The Makropulos Affair, a production that has also been performed in Brno, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
At the Royal Swedish Opera, Annalena has sung Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana and Senta in The Flying Dutchman, a role she has also performed in Bergen and at the Welsh National Opera, as well as Isolde in Tristan und Isolde, which she has also performed in Seattle, Cologne, Basel and at the Welsh National Opera. She performed as Sieglinde in Die Walküre at the New Opera in Esbjerg, as Ortlinde at the Théatre Châtelet, Turandot at Teater Hedeland and at the Cagliari Opera in Sardinia and Salome at the De Nederlandse Opera. Also worth mentioning are Chrysothemis in Elektra in Brussels and Berlin, Brünnhilde in Die Walküre at Opera North and the New Opera in Esbjerg and Siegfried at Opera North and Britten's War Requiem conducted by Shao-Chia Lü in Taiwan.
Annalena has also sung Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Herbert Blomstedt and with the London Symphony Orchestra in Florida, as well as the soprano part in Beethoven's 8th with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Gustavo Dudamel.
