GöteborgsOperans Danskompani concludes its spring season with a truly excellent double bill: the world premiere of The Promise and one of the most talked-about dance works from last season, Cold Song by Marcos Morau, who was named Choreographer of the Year 2025.

The Göteborg Opera’s Main Stage has undergone an extensive modernisation project. The installation of the new stage machinery has taken longer than planned, which has affected this dance production. One of the two works is being replaced: the restaging of We made a mess! will be swapped for the world premiere of a new dance piece, The Promise. The performance has been renamed from Past the Point to The Promise & Cold Song.

The Promise, by choreographer Felix Landerer, revolves around the dream of finding a place that feels like home. Landerer seeks to capture the contradiction between moments we let slip by while longing for something else, and the moments we cling onto when we realise that they will come to an end. The restlessness of chasing new opportunities is set against the realisation that tomorrow is promised to no one.
