Musicians from The Göteborg Opera Orchestra will tour Västra Götaland with three melodious and playful symphonies dating from 1779.

Three symphonies by Mozart, Joseph Haydn and Michael Haydn, all composed in 1779, are on the programme when 28 of the eminent musicians from The Göteborg Opera Orchestra tour the local region.

Austrian composer Joseph Haydn composed over 100 symphonies, 68 string quartets, 14 masses and some 20 operas. Here we enjoy his inventive Symphony No. 68.

Haydn’s younger brother, Michael Haydn, was also a prolific composer. In this concert we’ll hear his Symphony No. 23. Michael Haydn was acquainted with Mozart and one of his strongest challengers for the position of Kapellmeister at the court orchestra in Salzburg.

It seems fitting, then, to end this glorious concert with the imaginative Symphony No. 33 by Mozart, the master himself.
