A unique and enormously successful live act drawing influences from North Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Performing with The Göteborg Opera Orchestra string section.

With Nadin Al Khalidi’s charismatic and sensitive voice, Arabic lyrics on universal themes and the band’s unique sound and interplay, Tarabband have acquired a loyal audience in Sweden and abroad, especially in the Middle East.

Tarabband’s music and Arabic lyrics are based on human encounters and situations experienced by Iraqi-Egyptian-Swedish singer and lyricist Nadin Al Khalidi. The lyrics interweave people’s stories and destinies unwinding in parallel in various corners of the world: in Malmö; in the Wadi Rum mountains of Jordan; in Mosul, northern Iraq; in Cairo; and in Bagdad, where Nadin Al Khalidi was born and raised. When the musicians in Tarabband come together, they create touching, multifaceted soundscapes that elegantly frame, retell and amplify their stories.

On the recently released studio album Yekhaf [I intimidate him], the music of Tarabband continues to travel the world.

In this concert, the band will be joined on stage by the string section of The Göteborg Opera Orchestra, musicians who are accustomed to performing everything from musicals and contemporary opera to Wagner, Mozart and Puccini. This will be another opportunity for them to demonstrate their enormous flexibility and musicality in a new repertoire.

The concert is a collaboration between The Göteborg Opera and Tarabband.
