They’ve choreographed for major pop stars, brands and arenas. Now they each create a new dance piece in Gothenburg: a dance double-bill with high energy, acrobatics and small miracles.

“Takes the audience’s breath away” Göteborgs-Posten
“Passionate emotion” Svenska Dagbladet
“Stylish, funny and powerful.” Aftonbladet
“Physically spectacular” Expressen
“The audience howls with joy” Borås Tidning

This spring’s double world premiere for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani involves two pop-culture phenomena: choreographers Yoann Bourgeois and Emma Portner. They’ve worked with artists such as Pink and Harry Styles, performed at unique venues such as the Louvre and the Guggenheim Museum, and are hired by the world’s absolute leading brands. With each new work in the double-bill Vaults of Heaven, they unite around natural forces and flowing fighting spirit.

Forever, maybe by Emma Portner

Canadian dancer and choreographer Emma Portner is a sensation. In only a few years, she has rocketed to stardom with choreography for Netflix, the Guggenheim Museum, music videos and dance companies such as the Norwegian National Ballet. Among a cavalcade of stars at Dansens Hus in Stockholm, including icons such as Mats Ek and Jirí Kylián, it was Portner’s work that received most acclaim. Her style is a synchronised flow of movements with the capacity to profoundly move an audience. For GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, Portner wishes to create a work filled with paradoxes, ironies, metaphors and small miracles.
