What is it about love that makes everyone lose their common sense? Maybe the answer lies in Rossini’s effervescent comedy – an energetic romp that will also appeal to younger audiences.

”Musical comedy on a level one seldom encounters” Expressen
”An eclectic production which makes references to both the macarena and Abba.” Göteborgs-Posten

Figaro the barber can solve just about anything. When Rosina and Count Almaviva fall in love, Figaro immediately steps in as their self-appointed matchmaker – even though Rosina has been locked away by the old doctor Bartolo. Chaos of course ensues, as everything becomes hopelessly tangled.

Il barbiere di Siviglia is Rossini at his exuberant best. Egotism and empathy, greed and generosity – it dissects human quirks and twists them into comedy. Created in 2021, the minimal yet vibrant set places the spotlight firmly on the characters and on Rossini’s dazzling music, with its breathtaking coloratura, elegant ensemble pieces and infectious joy.
