Ben Meerwein

Composer / Sound designer

Ben Meerwein is a composer and sound designer based in Berlin. He studied composition and electroacoustic music in Leipzig and Vienna. His artistic practice explores performative approaches, sonic spatiality, and narrative musical forms, moving fluidly between experimental electronics, classical music, noise, and avant-pop.

Through a wide range of collaborations, he has developed experience across disciplines, composing music and sound design for film, theatre, installations, performances, and concerts, as well as creating his own performance formats and musical concepts—several of which have received awards.

For Marcos Morau, he created the original music and sound design for Notte Morricone in collaboration with Alex Vatiché, produced with CCN Aterballetto (2024), and together with Clara Aguilar composed the music for Wunderkammer with Staatsballett Berlin (2025).

His work has been presented at venues and festivals including Romaeuropa Festival, Festspielhaus St. Pölten, Kantine am Berghain, ZKM Karlsruhe, Théâtre d’Orléans, Schwere Reiter Munich, Iklectic London, Feÿ Arts Festival Paris, and Ruhrfestspiele, among others.
