Alexandre Corazzola

Set designer

Set designer Alexandre Corazzola was raised in Düsseldorf, Munich and Vienna by a Bavarian mother and an Italian father.

He studied at the Idyllwild Arts Academy in the United States and subsequently completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Western Michigan University and an MFA at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Following his studies, he worked for three years as an assistant at Schaubühne Berlin, Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna State Opera and Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg.

Since 2008, he has worked as a freelance set designer at theatres and opera houses across Europe, including Opera di Roma, the State Opera Prague, Göteborg Opera, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Volkstheater Wien, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Nationaltheater Weimar, Schauspiel Leipzig, Schauspielhaus Graz, Staatsoper Hannover, Staatsschauspiel Hannover, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Tiroler Festspiele Erl, Theater Winterthur, Opéra national du Rhin and Théâtre de l’Athénée Paris.

Corazzola is an alumnus of the International Forum of the Berliner Theatertreffen and the Akademie Musiktheater heute of Deutsche Bank. He has taught costume design at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden. In 2018, his set and costume designs for Spring Awakening were nominated for a FAUST Award. In 2025, Bloodbook, for which he designed the set, was selected for the Berliner Theatertreffen, Heidelberger Stückemarkt and Radikal Jung Festival in Munich.
