Christoffer Nobin

Christoffer Nobin has established himself as one of the most appreciated and sought after Scandinavian conductors of his generation, known for his natural and inspiring way and his ability to work in almost any genre. He collaborates with all major Swedish and Danish symphony orchestras and opera houses, and outside of Scandinavia he has won great acclaim with orchestras, such as the London Symphony Orchestra and Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.

Nobin started out as a classical singer and composer before taking up conducting. As a singer he traveled the world as a member of several highly successful chamber ensembles and choirs, among others the Svanholm Singers which was dubbed the finest male chamber choir in the world. He was also engaged for many years as a member of the opera chorus at the Malmö Opera, where he also stepped in as chorus master and conductor. As a composer he has written several operas and musicals and is also widely known as one of the finest arrangers of orchestra music in Sweden.

Since his debut with the Helsingborg symphony orchestra in 2011 – which led to a three-year contract with that orchestra – he appears regularly at concert houses and opera houses all around Sweden and Denmark. Recent engagements include productions with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm, the Radio Symphony Orchestras in Stockholm and Copenhagen, the Royal Opera Houses in Stockholm and Copenhagen as well as with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Musica Vitae, Norrlandsoperan, Wermland Opera, Göteborgsoperan, Malmö Opera, The Danish National Opera, Kammarensemblen, Athelas Sinfonietta, Copenhagen Phil, The Danish National Orchestra and the symphony orchestras in Malmö, Gothenburg, Norrköping, Aarhus, Odense, Västerås, Helsingborg and Kristiansand.

Outside of Scandinavia, Christoffer Nobin has conducted concerts, tours and recordings in Japan, Germany, Hungary, Austria, England, France, Slovakia, and the United States.

In 2017 Nobin was appointed music director and artistic leader of the Nordic Wind Ensemble, and had his contract renewed in 2020. Between 2018 and 2019 he was also serving as acting artistic head of music at Norrlandsoperan.

Christoffer Nobin completed his conducting studies with a diploma in orchestra conducting at the Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, studying with professors Gaincarlo Andretta, Giordano Bellincampi and Michael Schønberg. He has worked as assistant conductor to such noted conductors as Paavo Järvi, Louis Langrée and Pier Giorgio Morandi. He is an alumni from the think tank Young Thoughts on Music, he teaches conducting at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Stockholm, and he serves as a special adviser on music for the City of Stockholm.
