Nathalie Pallandre began her career in the performing arts as an actress with the theatre company Groupe Kraft in 1994. Alongside this, she studied art, textile design and costume design between 1996 and 2003. In 2005, she co-founded the costume atelier Rouge Velvet, which created costumes for theatre, opera and dance over the following ten years.
Since 2005, she has worked as a costume designer for theatre, dance, film, musical theatre and opera, collaborating with directors and choreographers such as Sandrine Lanno, James Bonas, Simone Aughterlony and Richard Brunel. She has also served as assistant to designers including Thibault Vancraenenbroeck, Christina Cunningham and Wojciech Dziedzic on several opera productions.
In 2025, her work includes Lohengrin at Staatsoper Hannover (directed by Richard Brunel), Candide at Welsh National Opera (directed by James Bonas), Company at Génération Opéra (directed by James Bonas, choreography by Ewan Jones), Les Mamelles de Tirésias and If Music be the Food of Love at Opéra d’Avignon (directed by Théophile Alexandre and Alexandre Martin-Varroy respectively).
Nathalie Pallandre appears as costume designer for If Music be the Food of Love at Opéra d’Avignon in the 2025/26 season.
