Personal data processing in the Operaverse app
The Operaverse app is an immersive 3D/VR environment with portals to different experiences, which differ slightly depending on whether you're using a mobile phone or a VR headset. All experiences are listed below.
The 3D environment and the Operaverse app as a whole (VR & mobile)
Gothenburg Opera uses the respective app store's own built-in tools to analyze reports on the number of installations and its use.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest. The processing is necessary to satisfy our and your legitimate interest in evaluating, developing and improving our services, products, and systems.
Bug and crash statistics
No personal data processing. In case of application crash or bug, an anonymized installation identifier is sent with technical information about your device, which cannot be linked to an individual. For the VR app, the identifier is sent to Unity Crash Analytics. For the Android or iOS app, the identifier is sent to the respective platform.
The video experiences (VR & mobile) – Spring feeling, Skiing, Opera up close
No personal data processing for you as a user.
Time for the musical premiere (VR)
No personal data processing for you as a user.
Operastar (mobile)
Your voice data is processed, however the sound of the voice is not recorded, but the frequency range of your voice is measured in real time to be compared to the sound in the original file. The result is then calculated mathematically based on how similar the different sound images are. Data about how similar the frequency range is is deleted after the session.
Legal basis: Consent. When using Operastar, you will be asked if you allow microphone use.
Which drama queen are you? (mobile)
Voice data is processed.
Legal basis: Consent. When the microphone answers, you will be asked if you allow the microphone to record sound.
If you agree, the microphone sound will be recorded when you answer the questions. The audio clip is processed on a web host called Digital Ocean and the audio is also distorted so that it cannot be recognized in order to be linked to you as an individual. The data is stored on Digital Ocean for max. 10 minutes before it is passed on to OpenAI's Whisper API, which turns the audio clip into text. The voice data is then deleted from Digital Ocean.
After the voice-to-text text interpretation by OpenAI, the audio clip is deleted.
The texts from the Whisper API are sent to ChatGPT (also within OpenAI) to generate the Radio Host's AI response, with clear prompting that ensures the response is anonymous and neutral. The ChatGPT account is set not to save chat history. The text responses are saved only during your own session (i.e. the round you use the app), then they are deleted.

Hidden Sounds of the Opera (mobile)
The audio files are played outside the Operaverse application on the Soundcloud audio service, which is based in the EU. Personal data processing takes place in accordance with Soundcloud's terms and conditions. No account is required to listen to the files on Soundcloud. https://soundcloud.com/pages/privacy
